It's been a while since my last Q&A, and maybe you have some questions for me. If you would like to ask something, please leave a comment. And I'll do my best to record my answers this weekend. Thank you!

Hi Matthew! I always enjoy the videos where you talk about “your old friend Bob.” I was hoping you could share what were some of Bob’s favorite books, or ones that you recall he spoke the most passionately about. Thanks for all of the great content - I am a big fan of your channel!

Who’s some of your favorite essay writers? Do you feel conflicted when you don’t personally like a book that’s a classic and/or criticially acclaimed— do you assume it’s because you’re missing context or perspective, or do you think it’s just not for you and move on?

Is there a period in time where the books written don’t excite you as much as other time periods? Also, do you like historic fiction as a genre?

Much has been said about the physical reactions that emerge in readers of books like "Crime and Punishment" and "The Magic Mountain", I myself must say that I felt a strange temporal perception when I read Mann's book for the first time. Do you usually have physical reactions when reading? Increased body temperature, nausea or something like that?

You clearly live French literature. Have you been to France? Would you learn French to read your favorite authors in their mother tongue?

Hi Matthew! What do you think of Ernest Hemingway? You mentioned in your girlfriend loves him and was wondering if you could share your insight on his work.

As a former resident of Mount Airy, NC, I wonder where you got your channel name.

Since you read some very challenging books by anyone's standards, how do you manage when you know you're in for a slog? I used to call them my "mug of coffee and bright lights" books.
