God of War is about Kratos. The parts with Atreus are to develop him more.

I think both Gow 2018 and Gow Ragnarok marks the end or at least the peak of Kratos's development and story, but it serves as the start of Atreus's journey and growth Later installment might be telling Atreus's journey in finding other jotun, or perhaps telling the stories of the other pantheons, but who knows, maybe kratos will still have his own journey and story

Loki is a great vehicle to have kratos grow and heal as a person however, the story is ultimately about kratos. Kratos' role as a father, a leader, someone who empathises, someone who restrains. Kratos is unpacking years of torment, bloodshed, complete emotional lockdown minus rage. He is deconstructing the walls of his past, making himself vulnerable for the first time. Ultimately its about family, dom would be proud

The story wouldn't be complete without either of them. It is about Kratos understanding his life, overcoming his mistakes and realizing in the end that he has indeed become better somehow. It is about a warmongering half god who is paying for his mistakes and trying to adapt to his responsibilities as a father. It is about a son who is attempting to scrutinize his father's way of life and coming to terms to his past and his sorrows, and eventually growing up to understand and accept his own destiny. It is about a grieving mother who is overcoming the loss of her beloved son, accepting her fate that she is not alone at fault, and how toxicity and manipulation had backed her malaise up, forgiving a trustworthy ally and moving on for a better cause. Every character in this tale has a story to tell and a lesson to give.

Its neither Atreus or Kratos story, its both of their history

you can't separate those. as Kratos said "His story is ours, and our story is his"

Seeing as we get to also play as Atreus in this game, I'd say the story is moreso focused on him finding out who he is, whereas GoW 2018 was based on Kratos becoming a different man from what he was before. Sure, he becomes more social with almost everyone in Ragnarök but still

Both, this was the rise of a new God of wisdom and journey a God of War into a God of Hope.

the last board that kratos opened at the end of the game where it was shown that people will worship him proves that it's still his story

This two game soft reboot was about kratos’ development as a character Hell even the way he calls people has developed, it went from “boi” and “head” to “Atreus” and “Mimir”

GoW story is slowly transitioning from Kratos to Atreus, and I love the pace, how Kratos has evolve from a vengeance seeking machine to a loving father but righteous man instructing his son to face the world with courage and good values. We must be better. 🤙

Both their stories, end of Kratos story and the prologue to Atreus (Also I like how Atreus has the “4KHD” in his portrait. Like he’s the high definition option)

The last mural from Ragnarok brought me to tears, a path in which Kratos is free from death and destruction. One where he's revered.

I would like to think the next Era of GoW will have Atreus being the main protagonist, and Kratos (and maybe Freya too) merely being the supporting character(s). As Atreus will travel to other Pantheons (Hopefully either Japan or Egypt) to search for other Giants in helping defeat the next great threat.

Atreus is a cool Kid, but I love the growth kratos has with people. 🧐 He's slowly becoming more social let alone building relationships with friend or foes . 🤧 I also think Freya and Kratos could blossom. 🌸 if not more. Love this new story

It’s close to the final chapter of Krato’s story and the start of Atreus/Loki’s story and building more character on his part
