When switching between War Thunder game modes (air/ground/naval), how many matches in the new game mode does it normally take for you to get used to it again before you're as good as normal?

@Slider_84

It’s not switching between mode so much for me as it switching BR from like 12.0 to then 4.0

@CobraDBlade

I'm equally crap in all modes at all times.

Depends on the length of the break. Usually it’s just muscle memory right off the bat.

I switched from ground to air and never went back. It's so much better in terms of grinding, rewards, as well as just general gameplay. Not having to worry about getting one of Gaijin's god-awful maps is a wonderful feeling.

It varies - except in ground, and by that I mean my normal is 'why is it I absolutely terrorize one team and the next 1-3 I'm practically useless getting one shot killed before I ever even see the enemy'. Also top tier planes - and I mean the very top where certain clans play in at least Arcade who's only thing is 'spawn camp with Fox-3's and IRCCM missiles' - either at their own or ours, because they pad their stats with them and make everything 10x more frustrating. Cause almost none of them have any actual skill and if you can catch them in a fair fight or out of missiles downing them is usually child's play. Matches without them, or the ones that play like them, are actually fun and competitive and I can do really well despite having a mostly stock line up without even CM yet. I get these matches where there's 3, 4, 7 of them - yeah I'm tempted to just leave at times cause I can usually dodge the first couple missiles with no CM but once I bleed enough energy trying to dodge when there's no cover - yeah, the other 12+ launched specifically at me all hit and it's a 1-1 march at best.

i would rather grind my air tree by taking a bf-109 into 10.0 than playing air. the worst part is that this is actually how i grind my air trees, by playing CAS or heli hunting with props because i don't have any other planes, the only jet i have is the A-4E and i'll probably start researching the Su-33 next once i finish unlocking the YAH-64 in like 5 days

I will never get used to switching to AB and RB, they play so different and I forget I goota be more slow and methodical in RB

@CoolLink-Zelda

depends on the mode. I get into naval really fast but i need like 3 or 4 matches to get into GRB

War Thunder has skill based matchmaker. I started to play as bad as possible in my first 3 matches of the day that way SBMM gives me easier opponents and better teammates. Though because of my +80% relative position on team, I still get paired against sweatlords with my crayon eating teammates.

@M1A2C.

Depends on the BR, low tier ground is second nature to me, high tier i need to adjust. With ARB it's the opposite, at high tier I'm far too used to having the insane thrust and speed of something like an F-15E or EF-2000, when i go to low tier i need to remember that I'm not flying something with basically infinite energy and i need to be more conservative in my playstyle. In the EF-2000 i can just chase someone no matter where they are and how high they are, in a Bf-109 I can't just go after someone who is a lot higher than me because I'll bleed all my energy and be a sitting duck.

Navel: feels different every time, like sometimes the boat is made of wet cardboard and other times they take hundreds of rounds to kill. Tanks: 1-2 games, depending on if it’s high br or low. Planes: ~5 games for ARB games.

@SotGravarg

I'm never actually good at ground or naval. But It takes about 1-2 battles to be good again after returning to WT from not playing for a few days.

More important questions is: how man matches does it take to get good again when switching from arcade to realistic. Easy 5+ for me

I really wish naval got more attention. It's my favorite

No one ever gets good again in warthunder.. they just suffer in different ways.

@fennoman9241

I just play naval air and ground whenever I feel like it. Doesnt take really more than 1 match to get back to 100%.

@derheiligespaten435

I only play air RB and im barely ever switching. Atm I'm grinding USA, USSR and Sweden in parallel after finishing German, British and Japanese planes... I feel like switching would break my flow too much to be worth it.

Top tier air rb needs a crazy overhaul. I prefer air sim instead, although the lack of maps definitely makes it a struggle
