In 1994, a Brazilian ripoff of Chuck E. Cheese's opened. The name of the place was Chico Cheese Pizza e Diversão. Chico Cheese first opened on April 5th, 1994 on Avenida das Américas 777 with a second store later opening in the Via Parque shopping mall on Avenida Ayrton Senna 3000. Chico Cheese shut down in 2000 because of a fire at the first location, and also because of a lawsuit from Showbiz Pizza Time, Inc.
