After losing your temper and lecturing someone, do you find yourself full of regret, often coming before God to confess? After you lie or deceive, does your heart feel quite guilty, leading you to pray for God’s forgiveness?
And yet, after confessing time and again, you still find yourself sinning, unable to stop. Are you left feeling confused, wondering why—even after believing in the Lord and having your sins forgiven—you still cannot break free from the bondage of sin?
This feeling gets even worse when you read the words of the Lord Jesus:
“Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the son stays ever.”
—John 8:34-35
Your heart sinks, because you know that those who constantly sin cannot enter the kingdom of God. So, what can be done to break free from the bondage of sin?
