There really isn't a better way of putting this. Just like how nonwhite people acting racist doesn't get them accepted into whiteness, describing yourself as "melanin deficient" won't get you invited to the cookout. There is no cookout(watch lil bills video it's good) you aren't black, stop trying to be. Be compassionate and kind.

Being an African immigrant is weird man, I caught myself wanting to comment "hey, you cant say there are no good ones!" then feeling st*pid as hell when I'm out-woked by the white guy 😔 its crazy how globally pervasive anti-black American sentiment is, even years after my baby leftist phase i need to constantly combat cartoonish internalized racism, esp since the "one of the good ones" mentality is huge within African diaspora. Im not smart enough to understand why, but the fact the "one of the good ones" mentality works both ways in white supremacy is...interesting? Crazy? Surreal I think, even living it doesnt make it make sense

It hasn’t escaped my notice that I, a white woman, can just decide to stop being a decent human being toward people of color at any time, and there would not be any consequences. I have no intention of stopping, but how are you to know that? How am I to know what I’ll be like next year for that matter. It’s just a thing I try to keep in mind.

Interesting self-reflection as a collective group. I think this may be similar or related thought processes to Carl Jung’s Shadow Self and Shadow Work.

I'm white, I don't really think about it much hence I'm white. I'm just trying to be good to others and considerate of the many things that change our lives, that's been good enough for basically everyone in the real world. If you're worried about being one of the good ones, delete Twitter and whatever else and just go outside.

Thank you FD for giving us sad little "reformed" edgelords as much attention as you have. I try to keep quiet and keep my hand down during class time, but I just wanted to say that this was a really useful video and I feel a lot less confused about my role in this fight.

If this is a truth, it might be one of the most discouraging truths I’ve ever heard

I used to think America had stopped the racism or at least made it into a very undesirable thing to be. I left America for 15 years and when I came back...the reality was different. Hell, I used to think that even in the fac e of racism black people would stand with latinos...the reality is even the black people love being racist now. Being latino in the US means being in the lowest caste and fair game for anybody to be racist against you. I am profoundly disappointed with how much Americans of all colors have embraced racism.

Often when there's a "white person doea a racism" moment i tend to have no desire to comment cause others will say everything i have on the topic and it's an ongoing never ending conversation. But Prof Skye actually added something useful specifically for white folks to hear from "one of the good ones" which is THERE ARE NO GOOD ONES. and that's ok
