13-episode seasons for dramas and 22-episode seasons for sitcoms seemed to be the sweet spot, in my opinion.

I’ll never understand why the standard became 8 episodes every 3 years. I’ve lost all interest by the time season 2 comes out!

12 or 13 if it's a drama. 24 or 25 if it's a comedy

Modern TV seasons are like watching shrinkflation in real-time.

The ideal season is 24 episodes, each hour being done in real time to accurately capture the events of a day 🫡 #JackBauer

I miss filler episodes, I miss actually spending time with the characters, I miss when shows had episodes that didn’t focus on the plot but still felt like the world moved forward. Shows used to breathe.

If a TV show is less than 10 episodes, that's not a TV show, that's a miniseries

Around 20. You want to have an overarching plot but still have some time for "filler" aka fun interactions to develop the characters that dont need to be lore heavy. TV shows now are so short they dont have time for the characters to just hang out.

12 episodes is literally a perfect season imo, that's one episode a week for about 3 months, PERFECT, NO NOTES

I think it should be at least 15-20 episodes per season. The reason why is because these series try to cram in too many plot arches in such a short amount of time. Extending it would at least give more room for proper story and character development

I miss the days when seasons of show's were longer then most modern multi season shows. (24-26 depending on how many 2 part eps)

I’m a 18-22 episode kind of guy, I can’t connect to certain characters if I don’t have the full scope of the world around them and full intimacy of them good and bad Maybe I’m spoiled, but that’s the perfect format to engage me

I went with 11-16, because it's a good middle ground for all types of shows, keeping in mind that some aren't meant to be 20 episodes. But, I wish we could go back to the time where filler episodes were a thing, to help flesh out the characters and the universe they inhabit. It's sometimes hard to get invested in the story when everything has to move at breakneck speed.

The 2000/2010s era tv was on another level before streaming service took over. That era will never come back. But every time I go back and watch a TV show from that time.I think to myself how lucky we were. And how everything now seasons are so short. There's barely anything there except the main plot. I understand the arguments for all season counts , but i'm still nostalgic for that era of tv. TheUSAnetwork , CBS ,ABC Fox, and the cw all have a great list of shows 20 + eps format.

I miss it when my shows were available to watch for MONTHS just one month or even less. We need to bring back then 18 - 22 episode series. What I like about that length of episodes is simply that it gives the audience more time to be with the characters and honestly the world until the next break happens. I miss it when breaks were only a year too so people wouldn’t need to wait like 4 years for one season WTF is this timeline?

The story should determine the length. If you force 12 episodes with 9 episodes worth of material, you don’t get 3 bad episodes, you get like 7.

I’ve found my sweet spot is 9-13 episodes. Enough time to tell a deep and well-rounded story without a need for filler content.

Forget the episode count, the problem now is the wait between each season and especially how unsure it is. While I prefer 15 episode seasons, I would be thankful for a show with 8 or 10 episodes, but with a well defined one or one-half year wait for the next season, instead of shows whose each season release seems like a struggle. Part of the problem is how every big budget series now, demands at least a handful of A list actors with small attachment to the project, the filming depending on unpredictable shooting schedules.

One huge thing that made shows like 90's Star Trek so good was that you had time to see characters grow and develop (e.g. Data, Odo). While 26 episodes per season was surely brutal on cast and crew and too much to have to make, you really ended up caring about the characters when really big moments came, because of the little moments along the way. These days, it's a lot harder to care about characters when, on the one hand, you have such short seasons, and also things are so fast paced and interconnected that you get no time for character development. Galaxy-level stakes are undercut when you don't have stake in the people in the story.
