Thanks, David. 406 was a real landmark. There were a lot of great FE engines, this one was really the first designed to go racing.

Man a Tripower would be Great but the chrome Thermostat based combination overflow/riser would be so cool! Mine was a 68 and by then, they were all gone... I don't even need the Slick 3 Holley deuces. I'd be thrilled with an al-oxide covered dual 4 with a pair of AFBs needing building! Oh, and NO Linkage! I can fab that! I have an old set of pretty good chrome Power by Ford valve covers for an FE, I'd clean up. My 76 Ford 4x4 High-Boy w/38s would be the coolest thing around. It's already equipped with an 80s era roll-bar, rear window gun rack and it is 'On Time'! Yall Take care! -John

I'm ashamed to admit this is the first I've head of the 406 or the fact that there was a factory Ford with triples. Ed-u-tainment! Congrats on 406k!

One of my friends had this engine in a Galaxy convertible. He would run it occasionally at the strip. I saw him run 14.01 in the high 90’s. Very fast for a heavy stock street car in 62.

My '62 Galaxie was apparently originally a 406 car they got out of a junkyard and put a 390 4 speed in but I never tried doing the research

When I was in junior high back in the 70s, there was a book in the school library on building hot rods by Big Daddy Roth. One chapter was devoted to stuffing a 406 Ford in a 55 Chevy.

Ok, let’s go Ford 406 for 406k subs! This engine was a 1962 Ford FE that launched the Total Performance era with a big cam, compression, and three deuces! The Thunderbird Super Performance tri-carb unit was advertised at 405 hp. This engine was quickly replaced by the 427…which is a story for another landmark.
