I found a backpack with Nortel Networks logo while thrifting sometime ago. It was fine, then the a plastic strap fastener broke all of a sudden and all my stuff crashed on the pavement.

I used to work night shift at a mid size telecom company and I worked with a guy who had been at Nortel from 1970 to 2010. We had some Nortel 3500 and Classic transport shelves left over in the network and this dude was an absolute wizard on them, he would get into the command line and dismiss the helper/prompt and just run it from there and it was so cool to watch.

I saw a Nortel phone at a car dealership and I pointed it out to my husband like, “look! It’s the company we watched that video about!”

I was watching the Nortel video with my friend on his TV and his dad walked by (his dad's a lawyer) and took a look at the TV and said "Oh, Nortel... we did their bankruptcy." That was some next-level dad lore

“Honey what’s wrong? You haven’t drank the beer out of your Nortel mug.”

That's a piece of ancient history, can't believe it hasn't turned to dust yet.

My dad worked for Nortel, europe. I still have some T-shirts and there is probably an award for my dad with a spinning globe! I used to play with it when i was little.

The day after I finished watching the second Nortel episode I found a Nortel clipboard on top of an inverted bucket propping up the bag for my current house’s central vac.

I grew up in Ottawa during this time, one of my first jobs was a car courier in 1998-2000 and remember Nortel having buildings all over the place, most notably the March road campus, the buildings out in Kanata and one of their big main building on baseline road. They also owned the big office tower off the 417 just after the carling exit on the northbound side. The tech scene in Ottawa was booming back then

My dad actually used to work at Nortel when it went bust. We still have a pad of sticky notes with the logo, his name, and his position + a mousepad. I watched your video and told my dad and he was like “oh yeah I remember Nortel, I hated that place”.

Huh, what timing, I just finally finished the Nortel videos the other day! What a cool piece of history to have.

Noice! I swear every time I find a solid channel to start watching they take a break from making new videos 😅 it's been almost 4 months since I subbed here. I must be a bad omen, sorry everybody. The Internet needs these guys to provide good content as a break from all the slop, lol. Im surprised there isn't a rich guy that hires a bunch of interesting creators to produce regular content for his own consumption and use the business as a tax loss or something. It shouldn't be so hard to find good content, although I do probably spend way too much time on YT, especially in the winter

This is like that one book written by Enron that discusses ethics

That's cool. I still can't believe the story of Notel. It's just insane that one company could basically crash the market of an entire country.

After watching your videos I can’t help but notice every single phone anywhere I go. They are still everywhere.
