Last week I made a video asking Disney to release the original cut of Star Wars. Over 7,000 of you jumped in to tag ‪@disneyplus‬ and show your support! 🙌 Now, just yesterday, the British Film Institute announced they’ll be screening the original 1977 cut theatrically FOR THE FIRST TIME IN DECADES! ... Is this a coincidence, or did we actually do something? Should I go??

"I was raised on Jabba the Scotsman" - a deleted scene that has never been officially released because it was added back in with CGI which has forced fans to reconstruct the scene back together themselves using various sources that vary in video & sound quality - has tens of thousands of Likes Anakin: Something's not right. I can feel it.

@Chewychaca

Scottsman Jabba was never presented publicly by Lucas Film. It was left in the cutting room for theatrical release and then brought back in later editions with Alien Jabba edited in

I don't understand why people think Jabba being a man in A New Hope was how was how it was actually screened... It was a deleted scene, he was never in A New Hope at all. I know because I grew up watching the originals, since my dad was a huge Star wars fan.

@FabulousCooki

As a British person, it’s nice when out of seemingly 100 things we actually for once do one thing right and proper! 😊 Well done you for being the voice of a people against the corporations 😊

@jspafford

I went to North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston Salem where they have one of the largest private film collections in the world that includes the original 70mm Star Wars. They take it out of the vault once a year to screen it and since they are an educational institution, they can show it anytime they want to to students. It was about 20 years ago but it was in perfect condition. Viewing it on a 70ft screen from 20 ft away. They also have classics like Gone with the wind and Singing in the Rain which are original Technicolor prints. I’ve worked in film in post including working at Technicolor years ago and I’ve never seen a better looking film than singing in the rain. I’m a color science geek that helped develop what color spaces are today including the first 3d luts and there’s nothing that comes close to the color rendering of actual three strip Technicolor. They stopped doing it because of the cost not because it wasn’t amazing. And no it doesn’t reflect reality… the color rendering but it makes everything instantly cinematic. Also the cartoons from the 40s 50s 60s captured with technicolor are amazing too. NCSA has a huge collection of those too.

@wordforger

YESSSSSSS! Still weirds me out to have a whole dance number overshadowing the establishing 'feeding the twi-lek to the big nasty' shots that used to be front and center in the third film. ALSO! HAN SHOT FIRST.

I mean I've had the dvd of it since like the 2000s. It's grainy as all hell but still super enjoyable as always to watch

A small victory, yes. But one that paves the way forward.

@jigggy95

Ironland's influence is undeniable. Don't even need tarrifs for that.

You should go for those of us who can’t

@thefollower2933

Definitely a coincidence, fans have been asking for the original versions for years, I don't think this little Tag movement would've been enough to convince them after all this time, but who knows, maybe it wasn't a coincidence

@PIGEON5265

Well, I'm not sure if you single handedly made it happen, but you sure MAGNIFIED the situation 😉
