BratBusters Parenting

Hope you're having a great start to the weekend ๐Ÿ˜Š

I wanted to share with you the message I sent my newsletter this morning ๐Ÿ”ฝ

Are you trying to teach your child not to interrupt?

From my experience here's where I may start ...

FirI would make sure I'm meeting their needs and managing their wants.

And I personally think playtime with your kids is part of their needs.

It's about building up the foundation of that all-so-critical connection ๐Ÿ’›

Since I believe this is the basis of your calm leadership.

Once that is in check here is how I may approach this:

For kids three and older I may use the BratBusters Behaviour Board.

Where their rule is no interrupting and if they do there's a consequence.

Of course clarifying that if they truly need something they can interrupt.

Hereโ€™s the thing though โ€ฆ

Oftentimes kids donโ€™t even realize they are interrupting as it has become a habit.

So I may let them know that if they do interrupt Iโ€™d have a signal.

This could be simply touching my nose ๐Ÿ‘ƒ

Then if they continue to interrupt after that, there would be a consequence.

No nagging or lecturing about the behaviour itself.

Just simply having a consequence which could be a two-minute chore ...

And then letting it go.

Because I believe where you put your energy and focus is what grows as a parent.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend โ˜€
