People gatekeeping careers will never be cuteπ€£πTech is all about skill, brotha! It doesn't matter what school you went to, how many bursaries you got, how many degrees you've got...at the end of the day. We will all get the same technical assessment, and it all comes down to who can do it quicker and most efficiently and that person will always get the job, its just th

Tech is a industry that is built on sharing and helping each other. Please can we keep it this way.

I am in architecture sis Boni, I can tell you these regulatory bodies, we have one, they hurt more than they help especially if you are from a previously disadvantaged background. Glad tech is open, if you study, develop the skill, prove you can add value you get paid big bucks πππ Many of my peers are always contemplating pivoting into tech, love what this industry is doing to close the unemployment gap while having a relatively lower barrier of entryππ "NO!!!" to gate keeping & high barriers of entr

Software dev filters out people by being given a project and seeing if you can do it. This is not an industry where you get in by just showing a piece of paper. Even people with degrees will get rejected because they can't code or build systems

Her comment is funny bcos even Wits University has now introduced Postgraduate Diploma Data Science. They accept any degree even unrelated ones to tech as long one passed Maths with 60% in Matric. They are trying yo get ppl into tech

Why would one wish such? What about people who can't afford to pay for their studies and get a degree? The wish should be that every career/course be the same where people can be employed without a qualification if they have the skill.

Amidst this great deal of unemployment that is plaguing the country there are still people who want to further make it difficult to get a job. Why? Because you struggled to get a degree and can't stand that it takes another person a fraction of the time you spent to get in the field. F.Y.I companies have been crying for decades about the incompetence of a lot of graduates when it actually comes to getting the work done hencewhy they don't mind taking in someone who actually knows what they are doing even if they don't have a qualification. It's better business for them. So to act like those that don't hold degrees are less deserving is quite....smh. It's screaming jealousy. And saying there needs to be a board means you are saying those without University qualifications are incompetent and that's funny because a lot of people I know are doing exceptionally well without degrees. I have a degree by the way. I just don't like when other people look down on others. People they don't even know at that.

Sisi Bonnie, I smell jealousy from these two individuals.

My question is are all the people doing software engineering in 6 months not excelling at their jobs? People need to grow up

Everything is just hindsight, so, what's the fuss!! As long you have the skill, then, that settles it since some of the people who employed most of you acquired no formal academic qualifications.

Hello Sisi Boni I hope you this message find you well. I wanted to ask could you pls help I recently graduated in Electrical Engineering but I wanted to also get a GCC, what can I actually focus on in terms of studying and industry-work in order to stand a chance in passing it. Do I need to get an experience and then apply for it or I can just apply for it straightly. And also when it comes to MBA which one is more constructive between it(MBA) and GCC? THANK YOU

Lifereset with Boni
This means you will faint when I publish an interview with a solutions architect with no degree. 20 years in the industry, he's been doing this with certifications only.
Also, I doubt companies can pay such high salaries forΒ people who "think they can."
At the end of the day, it's all about business, and businesses are in the business of making money and friendships.
