How can you say it’s too brutal, when the criminal gets away with being that brutal

Punishment should be dealt to prevent the crime from happening again not just to 'get even'.

I hope this question is just poorly worded and I’m misunderstanding it. “The same way they harmed their victims” is literally not possible. Edit: Nah nevermind. I didn’t misunderstand anything. I actually do believe in an eye for an eye to some extent. I do like getting revenge. The thing is, killing killers is one thing. It’s at least a viable solution. But if you’re punishing all criminals “the same way they harmed their victims”, there’s just situations where it won’t work. Just think of some crimes where doing the same thing back to the person would just accomplish nothing.

An eye for a eye makes the whole world go blind

Depends on the crime but anything that involves serious crimes like Rape, Murder Etc. Definitely deserve the same way they did to their victim(s)

I sometimes think that would be fair. Depends on the circumstances of the crime.

Government should not be empowered to inflict criminal harm on people based on its own standards of what constitutes proof.

"The same way" is problematic. This plan need executors who would do anything, every horrible think to guilty person. Normal person couldn't do it. Or robots would be executors. No Law should give permission to do crime as punishment

No, eye for an eye unless it's murder. I do feel we are too lenient in the prison system.

No because this is an easy road to corruption, no law enforcement should have that level of power

If someone breaks into your house and steals something, should the authorities break into their house as a punishment? What if they’ve a family that wasn’t aware of what the criminal did? That system would be utterly stupid.

Wouldn't you be forcing someone else to commit the exact same crime on the criminal?

Not hurt in the same way, but resulting quality of life should be the same. So if you take a life, your life should be taken. If your victim is never able to live a normal life again, you should not be able to live a normal life again.

Eye for an eye just leaves two people without eyes. They should be punished, but not in the exact same way they harmed their victins, especially since that's not always applicable.

“Back in the day in Singapore an American kid spray-painted a bunch of cars and they caned him. I was singing the Singapore national anthem that day. Yeah I guarantee you He ain’t gonna spray paint any more cars. I bet he don’t even join art class”. Bill Engvall

You off somebody in a brutall way, you experience the same amount as every victim. Under medical care. One after another connected to a mere pump so your heart doesn't matter. It can be stabbed and jabbed too. Wound after wound with surgical precision, no stream, no witnesses, no one who could be outraged. And at the end, into crematorium to get you used to helps blaze, on low fire. Pulled out sometimes as many times as possible. Then pulled out and set free under supervision to make sure you don't decide to take the easy way out from life. And great medical support to make sure you live as long as possible. Forced to find work, to be a normal person in the society. And you won't be because of your health. Denied any health benefits unless you happened to be lucky enough to drive someone to disability so you could to experience it. But halved due to it being a punishent for a crime you commited... I like the idea. Eye for an eye it is.

The punishment should fit the crime, not repeat it. If you lower yourself to that level you’re not different from those you claim to judge evil.

Harming a person in te same way that they did to others makes you not better than the person you are punishing...

If proven, should criminals be punished the same way they harmed their victims?
