He said, "Competence leads to accomplishment which leads to confidence." He is adding on an unnecessary word. It doesn't require you to have an accomplishment to gain confidence. It would be like saying to be confident at taking a test; you will need to pass the test first. You can get confidence by becoming competent at the material of said test! Also, what happens if you are competent but don't get the accomplishment?
