Smooth Brain Games

Just finished Bloodlines 2, Video to come out soon. To give some cliff notes ahead of this for those thinking of buying the game:

-It's not an immersive sim anymore and has no real reason to be called Bloodlines 2 besides marketing.

-The story is actually okay, but does hinge on the game bending some of the established lore, honestly flip a coin on if they do something lore accurate in any given scene. I enjoyed it, but parts did bug me (Vampires not turning to ash etc.)

-There were some brilliant set pieces in here, a few moments that had me wowed, and a few moments where I wished I had fast travel.

-Gameplay is either multi choice dialogue, Arkham City detective segments or mostly hack and slash combat.

-Disciplines are weird, your favourite clan will not feel like your favourite clan and besides a passive, you will be able to access all other disciplines.

-Can't play a noz or a malk (You do have a malk friend though who partners up with you)

-I finished it in 13 hours according to steam.

-I encountered a few stutters performance wise but no crashes.

- There's a distinct absence of side quests, technically they're in there but they're just fetch quests or combat in the overworld.

@Joeybob150

Considering the journey this release went through to get to this moment it seems pretty clear the original announced game was effectively cancelled and this game was released to prevent outright lying to investors and/or breaking contracts. Calling it VtM Seattle or Awakening or whatever was never an option. They promised a video game called Bloodlines 2 so they had to release a game called Bloodlines 2. Even if it isn’t the game they originally planned to sell with that name. Hopefully we’ll get the full story of what went down with the original game/concept someday.

I am biting into the game tomorrow when I am off-work. I am still looking forward, yet my personal beef is that Bloodlines 2 name itself. Seemingly from far a I could see there is no connection with the B1 or whatever. The original HSL promoted the returning character of Damsel and it seems it has been scratched out from the current story. I believe that as a VtM: Seattle it stands as a decent brawl heavy game...as a Bloodlines 2 it is suffering on the reputation of shoes that it can't fit even from a far distance...
