Did Vince McMahon do more Good or Bad for the Wrestling Business?

@chanman219

So here’s the thing, right? He put hundreds of people out of jobs, but the people he gave jobs made WAY more money and allowed them to work in way nicer conditions.

I think destroying the territories was a mistake and not inevitable. Like 20 years prior to Vince taking the WWF, Verne Gagne talked about restructuring the territory system to be closer to the NFL. Belt could be challenged whenever, like normal, but we'd also have a big championship night where every belt had to up for grabs. But we got a monopoly instead of a league of independently owned businesses.

Depends on perspective. If you like good old school wrestling or your the girl he is shitting on then no, you’re not gonna give him a yes.

@troytungai1828

In the territory days, there was enough for everyone. Most, if not all wrestlers could get a job in one place or another. If not Vince, it would’ve been someone else who did it. The blokes who Vince got, a lot of them were on guarantees, plus could make money on merchandise etc. Vince is still as polarising as ever!

For the "wrestling business," yes. For good of the world, probably not.

@kale7614

What he did was good for his business not the wrestling business as a whole. He put all the territories out of business and made “wrestling” a dirty word, now they’re “superstars” and “performers”

@TheinternetArchaeologist

You could make a Is very strong case for both Him being good for the business and bad for the business really Personally I don't like monopolies So I side more on Bad but At the same time wrestling they have died in the territory's era Without the surge of popularity brought about by king perv aka Vince

@honeynutreviews332

He monopolized and industry and then grew it beyond what it had been at the cost of variety and meaningful competition. He is to wrestling what Rupaul is to Drag 😂😂

Made more money than any wrestling promoter ever.

It's a toss up in my opinion, whatever good he did can't wash out the bad and there's alot of it

@michaelhaas5607

For the wrestling business as a whole, bad. For his wrestling business, good.

I think bad, im sure with internet kayfabe would come out but pro wrestling shows and territories would have a lot more mystique without everyone watching every match in slow motion on tv and breaking down moves and botches. That said if it wasn't vince it wouldve been someone else, and he definitely raised the popularity of pro wrestling a lot, as well as heavily increasing the amount of money pro wrestlers can make (sure that wasn't only vince who did that, but it wouldn't have happened if this wasn't televised which vince brought it to television)

If You compare this to the Vince. we have now.Both of these are good Vince

@LeramieCrump

Definitely good, but it's all tarnished with all he did.

@Onthejazz247

I don't care about the allegations, but VKM was bad for the sport. He turned it into this cartoony over the top thing people watched ironically, basically Making it so kayfabe couldn't survive for long. He drove all the other promotions out of business which meant the only path to the top was through his company. There's no getting good with a bad gimmick somewhere then going to a new territory and becoming a top guy. After the year 2001 the only path to the top was with wwf. He took something that was a pretty genuine working class form of entertainment and turned it into something people who can drop 200 dollars on a seat to watch ironically.

@t-wrecks9866

He's the greatest wrestling promoter of all time and changed the business forever. No "allegations" will change or over shadow that.

Considering how awful wrestling is now…anyone who says “good” is a perpetual mark
