For this year’s Costume Review video, I am hoping to collaborate with some fellow dress historians and enthusiasts who are knowledgeable in the eras and regions which I am not presently able to accurately judge. (Last year's video, for reference: https://youtu.be/n12oZoWsqzA) We have quite a number of positions this year and are looking for guests to cover the following subjects:
2600 BCE Sinai Peninsula (Black Adam) Ancient Rome, 8th c BCE (Romulus II) 6th century BC Yemen/Sheba (Three Thousand Years of Longing) 16th c Ottoman Empire (Three Thousand Years of Longing) Mid 19th c Turkey (Three Thousand Years of Longing) 15th c/Ming Dynasty China (Royal Feast) “Medieval” Estonia (Apteeker Melchior/Melchior the Apothecary) 14th c Bohemia (Medieval/Jan Žižka) 14th c Barcelona (Heirs to the Land) 14th c Denmark, Norway, Sweden (Margarete: Queen of the North) 16th c Spain/Portugal/Ocean (Sin Limites) 1719 Comanche dress (Prey) Early 18th c Nigeria, Yoruba village (Aníkúlápó) 1807, 1533 China (Doctor Who: Legend of the Sea Devils) 1820s Dahomey, West Africa (The Woman King) Late 19th c Philippines (Maria Clara at Ibarra)
Each title will occupy a roughly 60-90 second on-screen feature to be shot remotely. Professional qualification, personal cultural experience, and/or extensive personal study in any of the above fields are all equally acceptable.
Participants must be willing to appear audibly and preferably visually on this channel and be available for recording for approximately 30 minutes between 27 November and 4 December 2022. A fee of £50 per title will be offered to the chosen participants.
