No I think it will just create more of the too many 3s situation that a lot of people dislike with the NBA product. I think you can play around with the shape of the arch but adding the 4 point line just creates more problems than improvements to the game

@user-kb5py3hm2e

No – the excessive 3's already ruined the defensive side of basketball

@memphazo4733

They should, but only during the all-star game

@mattdillman463

4 point shot should be in the paint.

The NBA needs to study NASCAR and the pitfalls of adding gimmicks to artificially raise the stakes of sporting events. If the NBA adds a 4 point shot, then the Harlem Globetrotters should be the next expansion team and not be treated as a circus act, because that’s the side of the game the NBA is embracing.

A 4-point shot should only be implemented behind half-court, which would obligate teams to play hard defense full court.

I don't think so - not yet at least. Numbers wise a 50% from 2 equals a 33% from 3 per possession. To equal that efficiency, players would only have to shoot 25% from 4pt, assuming it's a line. Thinking about what a lot of people dislike with the 3pt shots in the modern game, it might make the game less watchable. With that being said, if the players and the game evolves to the point where 3s are coming by too easily (like the league average becomes 40%+), then I think the conversation begins

1 per side only can be used with 30 sec left in the 3rd & 4th quarters if game is tied or a team is up by 2 ….allows 1 …4 point shot so it’s not over used

@shepardice3775

No. I think teams are beginning to figure out the right balance of how many threes to shoot and how to defend the 3pt line. This would just be dumb and gimmicky.

@Iceman-gm1fu

No. They should get rid of the three point shot. Let's have more excitement.

@studentuser11

Yes - but its the half court line and is only active the last 60 seconds of each half. That would add anticipation for the fans and intensity for the players without the whole game becoming a clown show.

@BillTony2

I would love to see a four-point shot behind half court. That way it does not affect the three-point shooting percentage and we get the excitement of seeing people try real shots at the end of the quarter instead of faking the shot.

This is one of the best basketball podcast episodes I've ever seen. The way y'all breakdown the game and bounce off each other is sick plus the alpha male aura that all 3 of y'all have is very inspiring can't wait for part two.

Take away the corner three instead.
