I go so far as to say that Jesus intends to offer us literally nothing psychologically outside of this truth—except the conviction that we need it.

Exactly. No more endless intellectual black holes for me. Just the simple Truth. Thank you, Jesus, for saving my soul and setting me free.

Amen! There are no other psychological issues than that of God redeeming humanity thru His sacrifice on the cross! Thank you Martyn!

Peterson along with others have an agenda to co-opt the Gospels, to intellectualise them and preside above them pontificating on their worldly meaning without explaining why they are qualified to do so. The ultimate effect is to lead people astray by degrees from the simple essence of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The only qualification required is a contrite heart convicted of sin and an acceptance of the free salvation offered through the blood of Jesus. That's it. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

He’s called Wonderful Counselor for a reason… He’s led me through my trauma and the healing in the most gentle and encouraging and surprising ways!!

Thank you, Martyn, I appreciate your wisdom and understanding of gospel truth and also the pure simplicity of what our LORD has spoken to us through His Word.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ truly is not a complicated thing. It is simple! So simple a little child can understand it and sometimes accept it in its simplicity far better than us grown ups. To those of us who are saved by its main Character and King of all, it is Life and Freedom, but to those who are perishing, it is foolishness. May we never tried to over complicate the Glorious Gospel of our dear Lord and Savior!

I have always been wary of Jordan P. He is deceptor and a new ager in sheep's clothing. The very notion of the 'psychological significance ' is a trick to remove the true spirituality of the Gospel and bring it down to the personality level. 😭

I hear what you are saying Martyn. I know there is a problem when a person does not recognize accurately who God is and the import of His word. However, I’m not ready to write off those who fight for right and I think Peterson is one of those. I find that every time I open my Bible and read something significant hits me. It is amazing. That may be where the focus of the lectures are. God is working on hearts and as has been said in the comments, we need to pray that the Holy Spirit will convict our friend of sin, righteousness and judgment as he explores.

Thank you for speaking the truth about people who mean well but are sometimes uninformed.

The psychological unpacking is designed to get to that simple truth. We are instructed to test our faith so that our conviction can be solid. The journey of Jordan Peterson has been from I believe something, to I act as I believe in something, to I believe Christianity is the best way and these are the merits. To bring the gospel to masses of intellectuals who think they are too smart for God is a good thing. Jesus himself could have left his message to I am the way, but he discipled and spoke in parables for those seeking illustrations of faith. It is our Lord Jesus Christ who is working through JBP. God bless anyone that brings one person closer to Christ. Whoever they may be.

Brilliantly said Martin. The Trinity; God the Father, my Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit doesn't need high worded explanations from Petterson to deliver his message. The Lord made His Word simple to understand and for us to live by. I enjoy the words of this song, 'I Walk with God' because he understands, I pray to him each day to him and he understands every word I say to him. I am truly blessed in my life, because I now follow Jesus Christ 🙏🥰

I tend to avoid Jordan Peterson, but he has many followers who could be lead up the garden path if they’re not careful. God bless you Martyn and may you have a very happy Christmas.

It's the Peace that surpasses all understanding. Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Amen!! You mean we can be deceived by plausible arguments? That Greeks will continue to look for (special) wisdom? “But we preach Christ crucified….foolishness to Greeks.” Let’s pray for Christ to open Petersons eyes and heart to come as a child and receive what Christ has done to save him from the wrath of God.

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:17. No unpacking is necessary.

Peterson never claims to be a Christian and he is a psychologist, so it makes sense that’s how he approaches Scripture.

Martyn Iles
I see Jordan Peterson’s new series on the Gospels is billed as unpacking their “psychological significance.”
The psychological significance of the Gospels is this: that we may have peace with God because Jesus Christ has dealt with our sin and thus reconciled us to him through the things he achieved on our behalf in his life, death, resurrection, and ascension.
In short, we can “have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).
That's it.
