Just watched The Big Clock. It's amazing. It's rare to see so much complex plotting in a 94 minute film play out with such perfect coherence. Even the lighting is awesome!

Amazing. I love “The Night of The Hunter” and can’t believe Laughton never directed again after that film. That’s a masterpiece.

This is one of those rare films with a directing style that I define "perfect", because each scene is thought with extremely precise and specific long takes. Two other films that I consider similar but evolve the language based on their contemporaneity are The Verdict by Sidney Lumet and Punch Drunk Love by Paul Thomas Anderson. Every time I find a film with a directing style like this, I make peace with the world; the catharsis I feel is indescribable. Like when Michelangelo said that he did not sculpt the marble but "removed the excess" from the figures that were already there. Similarly, these films manage to take a screenplay and instead of filling it with standard coverage, they bring out the best version of the story. EDIT: i forgot to mention the beautiful montage sequence too.

Hey, i just watched it! It was great. Definitely the type of movie I would like it has: mystery, thriller, beatiful blonde, and Ray Milland. What else could you ask for? Also Elsa Lanchester’s character was unexpecting, I loved her!

A video about what makes a good film noir and a list of great film noir movies would be great! Also would you say film noir and thriller are many times correlated? The third man for example?

Thoughts on the Joker 2? Some people says the directing in that movie is amazing and a master class... or something.

Next week's video will be about the outstanding 1948 thriller "The Big Clock", directed by John Farrow.
It's a relatively unknown movie, so I'm telling you great people now in case you want to watch it first.
Here's four completely random stills from the film for no reason.
