@roachster68

No tariffs only hurt your own people Seek new markets and boycott American goods stop travel and watch the impact as America becomes isolated and alone

Tariffs are a tax on the BUYER. We don't need any more taxes in Canada 🇨

adding tariffs means WE pay more…and adds to our inflation rate..I think it’s smart to a avoid getting sucked into playing Trumps game..I don’t need tariffs for Me to mostly avoid US Made products.

At the moment no. But if an agreement can’t be made it will have to. Right now Americans are paying the tariff, and if we counter then Canadians will be paying a tariff.

@phecto

I think Canada should avoid tariffs and focus on just moving all trade away from the US as fast as possible and just not buy US goods if there's another option. Cut all ties to the sinking facist ship

As a proud and confident Canadian citizen, I always support the resilience and the thoughful vision from our PM Mark Carney. Canada will focus on what we can controle most and we are on the move from now on to build up our Canadian economy stronger and independant from the USA. Difficulties can bring more opportunities to a diversification og our customers and our suppliers' sources with more reliable alliances around the free world. That's not just about economy, it's about pride and dignity to stand up united together with confidence, optimism and determination as a Strong Free Sovereign Canadian Nation.

They don't need to tariff American products their boycott is already successful without having to make the government make something official. Focus on finding other trading partners.

Retaliation, in my opinion, is the wrong approach. An evaluation of the situation and determination IF tarrifs would provide a benefit to Canadians and act accordingly.

No matter how much I dislike Trump, I'm not voting against my best interest. If I didnt live in the US, where tariffs bite me on the backside, then I would Canada should stand its ground.

So many people that have no clue.

Do what Canada is doing. Quietly firmly deflect, delay, obfuscate. Meanwhile in the background work with your people to move away from the US. Carney has been excellent so far.

Our retaliation is simply not buying American goods.

I just feel that Canada should decide for themselves what to do about the idiocy of Trump's tarrifs. It just hurts how many allies the country is losing because of his ego trip.

@KymLeclair

If we tariff them it is just more hardship on Canadian people. We would be better to put the digital tax back on and use more surcharges. This way we’re bringing in money without hurting Canadian citizens.
