A Texas woman with dreams of becoming a social media influencer was sentenced to 35 years in prison after stealing $1.2M from her employer and spending $900,000 of it on TikTok gifts.

Prosecutors say Staci Blackmon was using the money to tip social media influencers on live streams in hopes of building her own following.

Blackmon's employer ultimately caught on to the theft, which led the company down a rabbit hole, realizing the theft had been going on for several years.

Now let’s see a politician do the exact same thing. I’ll be surprised if they get anything over 5 years

A murderer who deleted his wife in front of his daughter got 28 years... how in the world is that justice

@jimdrastic

35 years for theft...for taking away assets from a multi million dollar company. Who didn't even realize it until much later. I just watched a cold blooded killer get sentenced to 24 years for in a video this morning. Not excusing what she did, she def deserves some time but that's just insane to me. They care more about money than any one of us.

@JasonFord-l3p

35 years seems very excessive for a non violent crime... If you did an armed robbery for this much money she would've gotten 15 at the most. This judge should go to prison for being incredibly bad at being a judge.

35 years for theft? C'mon. Murderers do much less time.

@fasted8468

1 year for theft and 34 for lack of creativity

@Collieee20

Seems like a really harsh punishment but she will likely not even do half of that sentence, the real punishment comes from how hard it will be for her to get a job or apply for stuff

That is a crazy sentence. Our “justice” system has been maintained by fools (the public) for too long.

I have( and so do you) the names of MANY, MANY Politicians that have done the same thing.....yet, here we are.

So stupid. Her whole plan was so stupid, but that's too many years for a very reparable crime.

So weird. You have pharma companies literally creating problems and changing health parameters in public perception so they can sell medicines here and theft requires this degree of punishment. She deserves to serve time but those pharma companies were only slapped meger fines.

35 years is way too excessive. But then she did mess with rich people. What did she expect.

@DurrellV

That's cruel and unusual punishment, when Big corporate giants do it, it's called continuous improvement. They can track that but can't track where your tax money is going

Big companies are so stupid 😂my company had a dude steal 6 million before they caught on

@Plumbalina86

35 years?! That seems unduly harsh especially considering murderers get less time. I hope her lawyers will appeal the sentence because it's ridiculous.
