Summary: DEI hire is not done on merits Calling someone a DEI hire is putting their work and skill into question as you imply they didn't earn their job position.

"Well it's his fault for Mansplaining to her how high she should be!" First off, don't do drugs and second off, it's a job where lives are at risk, not just your own. Drop the ego, body type Bs.

Being labeled a “DEI hire” reduces a person’s entire qualification to their identity, ignoring their skills, experience, and accomplishments. The issue isn’t with DEI itself it’s with the assumption that someone was hired only to check a box, which is both dismissive and inaccurate. Imagine you’re a veteran who gets hired, and someone says, “Oh, they just hired you because you’re a vet.” Even if the company values veterans and has a hiring initiative, it’d still feel insulting like your service is being used to dismiss your actual skills and qualifications. You wouldn’t be mad at the vet program you’d be mad that someone reduced your worth to just a label. Or better yet, Imagine your kid wins a science fair, and someone says, “Well, of course, they probably just let them win because their parent is on the PTA.” Even if the PTA exists to support students and families, which is a good thing, implying that’s why your kid won undermines their actual work and talent. It’s not the PTA that’s the problem. It’s the dismissive assumption that the win wasn’t earned. Same goes for DEI.
