Salvation is a free gift. Obeying God is very important, just not to get or keep salvation - otherwise it would no longer be a free gift. We obey out of gratitude for the gift we have received by faith.

Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

It is a free gift to all those who believe on Him Who justifies the ungodly. [Romans 4:5] Key phrase: “the ungodly” Our Lord Himself said “Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” [Luke 13:3] — This call to repentance came after the crowds assumed that only “great sinners” were worthy of God’s judgment. John the Baptist came preaching a baptism of repentance [Matthew 3:11]; In response, the people came humbly confessing their sins [Matthew 3:6]. Unless one has a change of mind and heart that they have rebelled against God through their evil deeds, are deserving of His wrath, and are in desperate need of the Savior, they will perish.

I’m sooo glad I stumbled across this channel because Wow!, it really has clarified some things for me. Plus, it seems to be just good, clear teaching from the scriptures themselves, as it should be imo. Keep up the good work! 🙏❤

I have been crucified with Christ Jesus. It is not I who lives but Christ lives in me. The works I do comes naturally as a result of His free gift of salvation. Not by strength nor by might but by His Spirit.

The Israelites got the land by promise(gift) yet warned they will lose it if not faithful. Faithfulness is a reasonable expectation for the one who truly knows the value of the gift.

Any gift whether it's free or paid should be RECIEVED and ACCEPTED whole heartedly. Though Salvation is Free it's not cheap. It has to be accepted and received. Accepting JESUS as our LORD and SAVIOUR determines the person whether HE IS SAVED OR NOT. WHEN WE ACCEPT THE SAVIOUR WE ARE SAVED AND HIS LOVE IS POURED INTO OUR HEARTS AND IF WE LOVE HIM, WE WILL KEEP ( OBEY) HIS COMMANDS.

The initial adoption into the body of Christ is a free gift. CCC 2010 “Since the initiative belongs to God in the order of grace, no one can merit the initial grace of forgiveness and justification at the beginning of conversion.”

If we had to keep our salvation by our good deeds, then we could boast.

Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name? Then I will declare to them solemnly, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers."

“Heres salvation, but only if you repent - or in other words turn to me by abandoning your sins”. “😮 that’s not free, why would you expect me to change?” Right, because salvation ISNT free, Christ needed to PAY for it. We must use agency to accept his teachings. Else, what then of the dozens of scriptures regarding turning away from sin and the commandments? It’s silly. You believe in works but pretend not to, and strawman that everyone by acting like their believe that they should love God and keep his commandment is us thinking we could ever “earn” salvation. That was never the argument, you just never understood the actual one, whether willingly or not

Does salvation require good works to attain or retain? A better question to ask is “on what basis are we given eternal life in the first place?”. If on the basis of our merits, we should be concerned of its loss. If on the basis Christ’s merit credited as our own, then our legal standing before the throne is an unchanging “innocent” for those that are being sanctified (Hebrews 10:14). Having been born again and sealed with the promised Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14), we have nothing but assurance that we will receive our inheritance. How do you know you are in Christ? When the sin that would, before you knew Christ, taste sweeter than honey, after knowing Him is as bitter as wormwood.

If someone bought for you a soap and gives you to bathe with it to be clean, therefore because he commanded you that if you don't bathe he will take the soap back, does that make it not to be a free gift? Or if I buy you a car and tell you to come to my garage for free maintenance, because you're required to follow the instructions, now the car is not a free gift to you?

Free Gift is actually redundancy because if it's a gift it's free & yet we still have to say it because people don't get "get" how it can be free...this society that can't trust anyone claiming they wanna give them something without wanting something in return. This is how jaded we've become that we can't even accept free salvation & love from the one who literally created us. 😭
