"You're living your own life. Experiences that only you know. Feelings that only you feel. Don't deny them. You're here." Tear, Tales of the Abyss I can remember exactly where I was and the difficult things that were happening in my life when I heard those words. They hit me like a ton of bricks at a time when I felt I had little value. It is no exaggeration to say they changed the way I saw things for the better, both in the way I saw myself and others. I really hope Abyss gets a remaster.

"When I'm up here, I often wonder what lies beyond the sky... Beyond the sunset...Some say there're monsters. Others say there's a maelstrom that either blows ships away, or pulls them in... and they're never seen again. And there are others that just say it's... impossible... I want to know what's out there...Besides, I don't like giving up on anything without giving it my best shot. Someday, I will be the captain of my own ship, I'll go beyond that sunset, and I'll see what's out there." The scene in Skies of Arcadia that REALLY establishes what kind of character the protagonist, Vyse, is.

In Final Fantasy 4, on Mt Ordeals, when Cecil receives the light of the Paladin. The voice speaking to him, with the context of who that voice is..always a touching moment to me. As well as that moment in game when Cecil and Kain leave Baron, the entire scene and score. Always found that cool. It was a nice touch on the DS version to add the soldiers there to salute them, showing the respect the two young men have from their comrades, despite the King’s decree.

Auron's speech before you fight Yunalesca in FFX. I have yet to feel so pumped from a character speech since.

The romance on the ship between Justin and Feena in Grandia. Gets me everytime. The acting, the music, the emotion. Everything was perfect for me as a kid. It made me want to experience that myself with a girl I loved. Side bonus : when they come back from the Volcano on the beach of Gambo. Such a wonderful scene…the music that plays in that scene is the one they chose for the music box from Wayo Records which I have !!

Not sure about best monologue, but the scene the I vividly remember is the confrontation between Stocke and Rosch in Radiant Historia. The voice acting was the best in gaming really. It made it all the more emotional.

It's hard to pick for me, because this is something I wouldn't want to say tops them all. But to be fair this is how I feel about games in general. I can maybe pick some favorite characters or say "This is my favorite game in that series." But for some reason, I just have never been able to just say "This one scene tops every other scene out there." That said however, I'm a softie at heart and can get easily hyped up when needed so who knows? I have seen some good responses here!

The scene that gets me the most pumped up in a JRPG would be when Dart first becomes a Dragoon in The Legend of Dragoon. The most heartbreaking scene in a JRPG would be in The Legend of Dragoon where Lavitz dies.

Do not lose heart, do not lose hope. Until you've seen your mission through, remember, you're the Luminary. We believe in you.

Kefka's whole spiel before the final battle in FF6. His introspection and observations are so unnerving and chilling. Even as the party tries to point out how wrong he is I can't help but sympathize with his outlook, but I also know he is wrong and that the our pary's seemingly naive viewpoint is the right one. There's nothing wrong with hope or wanting to build new greater things even in the face of eventual and assured destruction.

What's your favorite monologue in a classic JRPG?
What's a scene that gets you the most pumped up?
...Or the most heart-breaking?
