Hi Everyone! Just seem feedback again please! First, thank you all for your thoughtful and kind comments on my videos that are much appreciated.

I was thinking about making a once a month series of what we can learn and apply to photography from paintings.

I have studied art and art history and thought it might be interesting if make it photography related and hopefully not boring! Any interest in this? saying no is fine too so let me know?

@KarloFio

Yes, it's essential to study the history of arts, especially paintings if you want to become a photographer. Painting with the light, nothing else great painters were doing! Rembrandt has even invented spot metering, do you agree? Anyway, you have already given many presents to your viewers and this series of videos connected with paintings would be special and unique here on YouTube. Every photographer or "want to be a photographer" should watch it! Keep up the good work, best regards from Trogir in Croatia 🤩📸

Ooh, what a great idea!!! Whether it’s the use of chiaroscuro by the “old masters” or the compositional techniques of the impressionists, there is so much to learn from those who paint with light the hard way.

GrainyDays is frequently referencing his appreciation of Edward Hopper. Go for it!

The most important thing is doing what you want to do with your channel and what inspires you to keep it going. Firstly because it prevents creator burnout, which has caused lots of content creators to quit entirely and helps no one. Secondly because people come to your channel because of you and the choices you have made so far with regards to the content of your channel.

@Subfrequenz

Fantastic idea! There's so much inspiration in paintings and liberation from photography traditions that may be good but can become predictable.

@masanthar

That sounds exceptional, please take the time and do a series like this.

@jonathangrosz28

yes please!! I am always trying to source inspiration for my images from paintings, movies, illustrations—really anything that has a solid understanding of light, color, composition, etc can be a great place to learn from. Would love to hear your perspectives on different paintings and get to see what paintings you would pick to talk about.

@NickHeaze

I've actually come to photography through painting, so it would be great to see it flow back the other way. Great idea!

@MattInWA

I would definitely enjoy that. In the past I never paid ANY attention to paintings or artwork, I just considered it something I didn't understand. As I've learned more about photography in the last few months, I find myself much more interested and curious about it. I look at paintings much differently, and consider color choice, lighting etc. when I'm taking it in.

We can always learn new things (gain knowledge) and find inspiration so I find it very interesting. Personally I like to see a framework around a group of selected paintings (no need to be the famous one) where each selected painting brings something that can be related to learning/improvements/inspiration when photographing (in the wider term , i e from composition to final output). I like the diversity!

Yes great idea, many years ago when I took a 2 year photography course in a junior college, one of the requirements was a drawing class. I learned a lot about light and shadow that I still use today

@FeedScrn

Sounds really interesting. I wouldn't say no or yes at this point: Probably a limited series unless it really takes off.

It’s an absolute must do… perspective, composition and tonal values all prerequisites of photography and painting.. early photographers such as Alfred Stieglitz were able to establish photography as a fine art in the early 20th century.. a rich vein of creativity..!!

@dizzicz

Jeez Adam Marelli has few of these, all photographers need more. Go for it!

yes pleas! I studied art and IM actually work doing art. ( classic painting.. 2d gaming art ..etc.. and IM kind of love some of those old art iconic 70-50-50s movies from certain directors where most of the movie frames /shots were like a painting .(I mean about composition focus color , light .. its why I started learning photography .. that and I like landscapes ( epic ones) too .. kind of because my relation with Lord of the rings /tolkien saga.. ( IM stealing this phrase from another photography YouTube channel but it suits this so well ) me + trying to take landscape shots = IM trying to find middle earth lol :D by the way Martin thanks for all those vids about portraits.. from lens and how to shoot .. and about landscapes too I even did a list so IM slowly watching them .. trying to learn from them .
