The Ravenskill Rebel Militia

Dream Theater lost a true gem when Kevin Moore quit. This is much more touching than about anything Sherinian or Rudess have ever done (with the caveat that I do like Planet X and DS' solo music). If Rudess had composed this, he would probably ruin the human element with computerized vocals, exactly as you hear on his Wired For Badness album. In 1994, the other members of Dream Theater should have gotten down on bended knees and pleaded for Moore not to quit.

@StudebakerCoupe

Thanks for posting, somehow I don't think I ever heard this song even though I did a Chroma Key deep dive a while back and own all three albums. I like it considerably better than SOS, which the "behind the sun..." verse melody was clearly repurposed into. One of his best sets of lyrics too, I think I rank it above any CK song. Feels very hopeful.

Kevin Moore was the soul of Dream Theater. He was the true artist among them with the transformative soul that sought to make true art and not sell out. It's hilarious though that he wrote the band's only hit. Petrucci has tried many times to replicate it with his "radio-bait" songs over the years but none of the cheesy songs ever stuck. Sometimes I feel like the other members were intimidated by Kevin. He was the tallest member, best looking member, most talented member, and more. JLB felt insecure around this guy.

What kept DT grounded in those years was Kevin's deep and intimate approach with music unlike Rudess who is only capable of playing random fast notes with shitty sounds

@GINGOLOGUNGA

Do you have any opinion on Between The Buried And Me? I think they're alright; Tommy is a dynamic talent and they have some good stuff. Not a fan of their beliefs or how they handled/are handling Dustie's situation though
