I, like many others, was inspired by the Jurassic park trilogy growing up to pursue a career in paleontology, and the movies made an awesome impact on public perception of dinosaurs. However, in no way does this resemble Jurassic park. It’s gonna be the same brand of cgi slop as Godzilla vs Kong. The franchise isn’t even a shell of its former self, it’s wholly unrecognizable. Paleontology, believable science fiction, and believable animal portrayals were once the center focus of Jurassic park. But this just looks like the same generic modern oversaturated movie-monster action flic that demands you turn your brain off before viewing. Where Jurassic park once inspired a whole generation of paleontologists, it now poisons the public view of dinosaurs. Modern Hollywood is partially to blame for its obsession with A-list actors, high budget graphics, and convoluted action scenes. But this is also a mark on the director’s record, who previously made compelling movies with Rogue One and Godzilla (2014). It’s sad, but this is the result of cultural decay combined with franchise obsessed entertainment industries. An ugly, uninspired, disrespectful, low IQ, CGI slop fest.
