It’s Republic Day ✨🇲🇻

Republic Day in the Maldives is celebrated on 11th November each year to commemorate the country’s transition from a monarchy to a republic in 1968.

On this day, the Maldivian people remember the historic moment when the Sultanate was abolished and the first president took office, marking the beginning of a new era.

Although 11th November marks Republic Day, it is different from 17th November, which is the Presidential Inauguration Day.

The inauguration takes place every five years, when the elected president and vice president are sworn into office following the presidential elections.

Together, both dates highlight the Maldives’ commitment to independence, and good governance.
