The irony of 60 Minutes airing this story days after Skydio's fiasco with their 'mailings'.

@Russ I worked at GFAFB over 20 years ago for an internship over the summer and yes, totally agree, they would not tolerate it. It’s either government/military or some contractor that these bases are well aware of what’s going on/approved it.

I have a friend that's a military rotary pilot. He told me hoby drones in training area airspace is fairly common and little is done to find much less prosecute those violating airspace.

As a govt employee, the whole thing sounded embarrassing… each statement coming from what I see as a wanna-be or self proclaimed expert, speaking without any factual info, feeding into continued hype just because they think they should for some unknown reason other than it brings them jollies I guess.

I think the hype is dying down and Skydio needs the hype to get a ban done.

I haven't seen the 60 minutes story. But, I agree that the bases do have defenses against drones. What may be is that the drones are being used for red team penetration exercises.

If they were "illegal" drones, why the crap would they have lights on them? Of course they know what's flying over them.

I find it funny the big fire drill around remote ID to prevent just such a thing... only to have it publicly shown that it did very little to help in the very situation it was meant to prevent. It may have been someone genuinely testing, that's what I would have suggested they do... but it could be anything. I saw this also just this morning.. ugh

Make less regulations great again! I have to drive 2 or so miles to fly just outside class D. I still have alot to learn as far as for part 107 and such, but no way I’d fly by a base. Is there an article or news clip? I’m curious what happened now.

Sounds fishy to me as well Russ. 60 minutes must be running out of valid material to fill air time.

Weird how they didn't mention the drone swarms in colorado, nebraska, and wyoming back in December 2019, everyone was freaking out about that and then it stopped and people stopped asking questions about what it was

Saw the segment and It was definitely odd. Did anyone else catch the statement by one of the military officers that they were being launched by a Hong Kong freighter? Shame on 60 minutes for being a part of the coverup.

Again? Or is this still about New Jersey that was answered last year?

No but I’ll try to find it and watch it. Near the end of my patience with these stupid government manipulation tactics.

51 Drones
Anyone see the 60 Minutes segment on drones? The whole story seems a little fishy to me. If I flew my drone over the base near my town right now, it would be down in a matter of minutes. What do think is going on? (Comment if your choice is not an option)
