Brent I was a professional window cleaner back in the late 80's through early 90's. My specialty was rappel rigging and we had a building with 500ft drops on it (LeVeque Tower in Columbus,Ohio). The problem with this building was the sheer weight of the rope hanging below you acted like a self brake. You literally had to hand over hand the rope through any mechanism to move and it was very exhausting. Most of them didn't function correctly for rappelling until the last 10-15 floors from the ground. I experimented with virtually every device on the market (rappelling and spelunking) and even different rope compositions. Then I discovered the "rappel rack". This allows you to fold in new fingers or brake bars as needed. You may want to look into a 6 bar "Rappel Rack Lg Complete". They are still used to this day for extremely long rappels by window cleaners. They easily attach and detach from a static line which makes for easy line crossovers as well when used in combination of a line grab or line climber such as a Jumar etc. I hope you are getting the proper training and please be safe!

This was one of your most ambitious episodes I have seen, Brent. I like the idea of the staging area. Very interesting work. Stay safe.

That was an amazing update, saw it yesterday. The history of Cerro Gordo is fascinating and very addictive, I love it. I love mines and have always enjoyed walking between worlds. Thank you for all your hard work renovating Cerro Gordo. We all love it too.

Dude. You are certifiably insane to go down into the mine… please keep doing it so I can live vicariously through your channel by pretending I’m down there with you.

I watched it. You have an amazing home. Way huge. I can't wait to see if you make it to the lower levels and what you find. Supper exciting. Be safe.

Brent Underwood, awesome video first off! You should carry one of the those foldable military shovels just in case you have a small collapse. Also, look into Power Ascenders for rope. I’ve seen them used in some other videos and I think this would be a great option in your case.

Brent I think you should partner up with BluEtte. They make amazing portable power boxes that would serve you very well in the deep level base camp that you spoke of. I have owned an 800 Watt Model for about a couple of years now, and it is awesome. Mine came with a 3 window solar panel group, that can recharge the box in about 4 hours time. They have gone up some in price since I purchased, but if you can wait, they always run great Holiday Price Specials. This would be an ideal way of bringing portable power to such a difficult place. The boxes are not extremely heavy to carry, but in this instance it might make even more sense to just carefully lower one of them down with a rope. However, eventually you’d have to recharge it again. Either returning to the surface with it, or running numerous 100’ lengths of extension cords down to there. I’m betting if they saw your channel, they’d probably shop you one for free.
