What is your native language ? ( The language you use everyday )

Not for me but it really depends how you learn it. If you grow up in a native environment or if you watch cartoons from a young age in a foreign environment, it's easy. You learn it passively. This is quite common and i've learned it this way. But if you learn it actively, through grammar and books it can be a pain in the ass because the grammar has a lot of gotchas and exceptions. The biggest hurdle at the beginning is writing English which is hard enough for native speakers, let alone foreigners

here in Russia they say: "instead of learning English, you need to learn the device of the Kalashnikov assault rifle (AK-47), then the whole world will learn Russian"

The difficulty of english relies on the pronunciation, wich is super inconsistent, and at first glance it can look super difficult, at the end is just practice, everything else in it was easy for me to learn (grammar, structure, etc etc). I wouldn’t call it a difficult language. My native language is Spanish.

I learned two languages growing up (English and Hindi, with bits of Malayalam as well), but since I spent most my life in America, English has been the easiest

I love English more than my ethnic language, but I have to say that it depends. There are many and different ways that people can learn English. If you are born and stay or has just moved in the United Kingdom, United States or in any other former British colony where English are the main language then you grow up with the specific language and understand, write and speak it better. But there are many other ways especially when someone is not born in any English speaking country then things get harder. I personally get along with English, but three years ago I didn't I was just seeing them as an extracurricular activity to finish and go home, until I started middle school, then things got more strict, I had to take English as a part of my life and don't take it for granted, and I did, now English language is very important for me and now I sometimes think things in English and it is very convenient I can say. Although I have started a foreign language school from the 2nd Grade and now I am in the last year I have to say that not only my English classes helped me to improve my English but also watching videos on YouTube. Overall English will be a very significant part of my life and for many others.

While English is my first language I kinda just find it to be a dumb language and I suck at articulating my thoughts into writing like for essays. I like Spanish as language a lot better but I need to learn more and I also want to learn Quechua too

Yeah, guys, try to read Lolita before answering ‘No’; It’s a nightmare, after reading just half of the book I’ve come to realize just how much I don’t know, even though I’m fluent(and by fluent I mean native-like vacab size).I think that English is one of the most complex languages due to the sheer number of words, and it still occasionally gives me a hard time. P.s My native language is Russian

I'm Swedish. Although the basics in English are simple enough, mastering the language takes time. For all the talk of simplicity, we have to learn the language from when we're 9 years old until we finish high school. Even then, only the good students can actually utilise the language at the level of a native speaker. Now that I know the language, I can say it's simple, but looking back at all the time it took, I fully sympathise with those that struggle. By comparison, I've been learning German the last two years and I can already hold conversations and read books. I find it much easier to learn than English.

Since kindergarten to right now In grade 10, I have been in an English medium school and my family members knew English too so I always had the environment to learn it. But the majority of contribution in learning English goes to games and hollywood movies ;)
