As fun and infinitely replayable as Mario 64 is, Majora’s Mask is unique and holds a very special place in my memories. No one made a game like this before this game, and no one will make anything like this after this game (please prove me wrong).

Mario 64 is a juggernaut of video gaming. It's been relevant to play and experience for over 20 years, through speed running and modding it has stayed alive... but, at its core it's a fairly simple Mario game and struggles with being one of the earliest games on the console which leaves it feeling clunky. Majora's Mask is a work of art, it's the first game I ever completed 100%. It took the successes of Ocarina of Time, and belted out a fully featured sequel that felt entirely distinct. It wasn't just Ocarina of Time 2, it was its own game with its own themes and story. Those themes were deeper than Ocarina, they were grittier than most mainstream games of the day, but they were also digestible by everyone on their own level. And so, without a doubt, it has to be Majora's Mask. They cobbled together a masterpiece in 15 months built on the pieces of Ocarina of Time, but with an identity and ethos all its own.

Majora's Mask is the kind of game that simultaneously made me hate it and celebrate its brilliance. It's one of the best games I did not have fun playing. It's drinking the Pathologic juice. There's nothing wrong with SM64 in my mind, but I was around when MM came out and I've seen the entire arc of history around the game, low to high, as the community matured and understood it better. Also, cosmic horror for the youth, the madmen just gave it to us.

I'd say the reason I voted MM over OoT in group A is because MM feels like it plays better. It worked through some of OoT's hiccups. SM64 has the same problems. It's groundbreaking in its genre but has fine tuning issues like OoT. Both are incredible, but Majora's Mask has my vote in this.

I have replayed Mario 64 over my lifetime, like at least 25 times, and most probably will again, I have played it with friends, on emulators, on OG hardware, with cousins, watch others play, at vc, on holidays, at night overs. It is just that good of a game that has not aged a bit. Yet I did love majoras mask a the true masterpiece it is

Majora's Mask traumatized me as a kid. Not because of the dark themes and mature imagery (I used to watch Care Bears, so I was used to it,) but that damn time limit made me so unbelievably stressed...
