Half life is a masterpiece of shooter design, if you do stream it on twitch be sure to put the recordings on YouTube!

The expansions for both of these titles are essential, you'll want to play those as well. The "Black Mesa" fan recreation of Half-Life is amazing, but it does have some fundamental differences from the original, so I'd consider playing the latter to have a more faithful idea of where the series started. But you can't go wrong either way. Whatever you do, don't play Half-Life: Source (I don't think it's even available anymore, anyways).

All the games in the Half life series are great. Opposing force, blue shift, episode 1 and 2

Both hold up really well given their age. You are in for a treat.

If you enjoy the narrative or story in video games, don’t do it unless you are willing to accept that you will feel awful when it’s over. Imagine you never had a child, but were given the opportunity to have a child that you knew would die at the age of 6. That is what playing Half Life will be like.

Warning about half life 2: sometimes the ladders are a bit too camouflaged. Beware of this.

If you're playing them for the story, I'd recommend playing Opposing Force and Blue Shift (DLC for Half-Life 1) before moving on to Half-Life 2.

I’m thinking about streaming half-life and half-life 2 on twitch because I’ve never played them. It would be after I finish the Elden Ring dlc though.
