I would guess it was a bit of reenactment after town was secured.

Good job you added the description because I wouldn't have had a clue what was going on!

Aachen, lovely little place. Much improved when I passed through in the mid-eighties 😂

Remembering the men of 155 Battery, Sidi Nsir, 1943, who stood their ground with courage beyond measure. They gave all they had, so others might stand free.

Oh hey, I actually have a copy of this newsreel! In fact, United News reels seem to be at least somewhat common in the states. I had a phase where I was really interested in 8mm film, and so I bought up a bunch of reels and projectors from my local antique shops. Among them were multiple United News reels, most in nearly mint condition. From what little I know, they were essentially official news bulletins created by the Office of War Information.

(I am not comparing) Ah yes. American Stalingrad. (Inspired by The Armchair Historian Video Title.) Where German force, even Volkssturm civillian fight alongside against american. Just like Soviet Militia and Soviet Army. And Battle of Ortona "Italian Stalingrad." Twisted fate of history.
