The Great Nebula of Orion is back, and as Usual I kept my Focus on the core trapezium cluster. But the spotlight goes the M43 aka the Demarian's nebula.
The 43rd Object in the messier catalog, It was discovered by the French scientist Jean-Jacques Dortous de Mairan sometime before 1731, then catalogued by Charles Messier in 1769. It is physically part of the Orion Nebula (Messier 42), separate from that main nebula by a dense lane of dust known as the northeast dark lane. So, this is a pretty good example of a Dark nebula and and Emison nebula combined. The bright star at the center of M43 is called HD 37061 with a spectral type of B (white-blue star), 1300 light years away from earth. I thought the Orion nebula gets most of its attention so, I'm glad to actually share this! Hope you look out for this object, Clear Skies as Always!
