🚨 Prophetic Message for America 🇺🇸 and the World? 🌎
This last week our social media feeds overflowed with two emotions:
Millions grieved that an upstanding citizen had been shot in the neck and bled out in front of his own children, and millions of others celebrated his murder and called for more.
In that shocking moment those of us who were grieving realized that many of these people wanted US dead too. Because if you disagree with them you're a hater, and haters need to die.
That was the black-and-white moment when we all became Charlie Kirk.
From there things escalated fast. One one side, millions of us rose up in righteous anger and began holding these would-be murderers, along with the media outlets and political leaders that had so radicalized them, to account.
Meanwhile on the other side, instead of condemning the violence (full stop), we've been subjected to endless justifications, blame-shifting, and gaslighting.
But then something new started happening, something that none of us expected, something that's unfolding right now:
The woke folks who still have a sense of decency have started waking up, sickened by the savagery they've found themselves surrounded by...and they're leaving.
But these good-hearted people aren't just switching political parties - they're realizing there's a deeper problem, and that the answer is God. They're even expressing interest in going to church, many for the first time!
And that's where my heart really kicks in. Because I've read the stories about lost sheep and the prodigal son yes, but also because this is where the real change could happen.
Depending on what we do next.
The easy answer is to just hope all these ex-woke folks find their way to church - maybe even invite them. But what if that killed what God wants to do? Please hear me out, with the disclaimer that I love the body of Christ.
Traditional services are the WORST way to make disciples who will go on to make more disciples, for multiple reasons. I just started writing them out but got frustrated as I realized how long this paragraph would be.
It's not just me saying this - I spent several years researching movements around the world that are actually making disciples and learning how effective missionaries reach their cultures, and they're the ones saying this.
My experiences taught me this too, as I put what I had learned about making new disciples into practice in my own neighborhood and city and began to see delightful results.
That brings me to the heart of this message - a warning that has been burning in my spirit since January 20, but that I haven't received a green light to release until now.
We're in danger of winning the battle but losing the war.
There are good things happening in America and the world right now, the beginning of a real awakening. But if each of us doesn't start taking responsibility for making disciples, and if all of us don't drastically change how we do church, then we will lose the next generation - and if that happens, we lose everything.
Politics plays a role, but if you think that’s all it’s going to take to save your country, you're wrong. Because ultimately the government is a reflection of the people, and our young people are increasingly falling for the wrong story (just ask TikTok.)
I believe that this is a prophetic message for the body of Messiah today. If you sense the same then I invite you to keep reading.
I want to help you start a discipleship group where you can invite these awakening souls - a tightknit circle of friends with the power to grow and multiply into a movement of similar little communities, all gathering where the people are that God wants to reach through you: homes, schools, parks, bars...everywhere.
So here's how I can help: I put everything that I learned and experienced about discipling the next generation into a short book, and also started a network to help people interested in taking this step. In the last eight years we've already had over a thousand people sign up to start their own groups, but when I see what's happening right now, I really hope that was only the beginning.
I understand that you're a busy person - with five kids, I am too! And I get that it would be way easier to just stop reading and let somebody else do this. But what if everybody did that? What if that's what got us to this crisis in the first place?
Do a quick self-audit: how many new disciples did you baptize in the last year, or in your whole lifetime? If the answer is zero, why not rearrange your schedule and priorities to at least try something new?
