Why are counter poses important?
Practicing a relaxing, counter position after an intense asana brings the body back into a neutral and balanced state.

If you do an intense backbend, doing a forward bend will restore the balance and harmony in the spine.

If it's a side bend, repeating the posture on the opposite side is important to maintain neutrality on both sides.
Remember, yoga is all about balance and harmony!
