You know when your leg falls asleep, and you start to regain feeling in it again? At first, it’s going to feel like pins and needles.

The process is painful and unpleasant.

It’s similar to struggling and trying to change your life for the better. Being unhappy or stuck feels familiar and “comfortable” if you’ve been there for a while, even if you want better for yourself.

You become used to the sadness, anger, frustration, and loneliness…and you don’t dare to hope because if you hope, you open yourself up to the possibility of being disappointed.

Removing numbness almost always begins with pain. But if you stick with it and go through the pain, knowing that there’s light at the end of the tunnel, you’ll eventually start to feel better.

Breaking out of a pattern is difficult but you can do it with the right support system and tools. If you’re not sure where to start, try checking out the Depression Module in Dr. K’s Guide to Mental Health: bit.ly/4orfIU2 💚
