“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28 KJV
There will be times in your Christian life when you will not understand what God is doing. The trials may be heavy, the path may be unclear, and the prayers may seem unanswered. Yet the Bible tells us to give thanks in every thing — not just when life is going well, but also when life is hard.
Why? Because God is always at work. Even when you can’t see it, He is shaping you, guiding you, and preparing you for something greater. His thoughts are far beyond ours, and His plan is always perfect.
Just as Joseph could not see the full picture when he was betrayed, sold, and thrown into prison — yet later could say, “Ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good” (Genesis 50:20 KJV) — we too can trust that God is weaving every detail of our lives for His glory and our good.
So today, instead of asking “Why?” ask “What is God teaching me through this?” Be thankful in the valleys as well as on the mountaintops. Trust His timing, rely on His promises, and remember that His plan is better than anything we could imagine.
