Would you like to see a return of Final Fantasy to turn based? Either through a mainline like FF17 or through a FF sub series dedicated to being like the PS1 era games?

@j0llyblackgiant

Final Fantasy 7R has the base mechanics that should be used going forward until there is some other innovation in gameplay.

I'd like to have turn based side projects, but for the mainline series - the FF7r battle system is the way forward. Literally nailed the action with turn based aspects that makes it scratch that TB itch. Honestly, I do think the turn-based crowd is a vocal minority, but they shouldn't be outright ignored. The FF16/DMC guy and CBU3 could maybe work on a spin-off or a new IP all together. Kinda feels awkward having him on board stuck between FF7r's system and the fans who want turn based, lol.

Turn based isn't dead, Metaphor proved that

@MonCappy

Final Fantasy needs to return to its turn based roots.

I would love to revisit a combat system like 12. That game was innovative its story and charcters were just underwhelming

@arsonne

FF7:RE had such great combat that for once I never missed turn based in my entire 100 hours of that game. It's just so damn good.

In all honesty, yes. Final Fantasy should return to turn-based combat, I know people say action games sell more than turn-based, which by an extension is true. But with the success of Metaphor, P3R, and others, it proves that turn-based games do sell well. It not that I hate FF7R combat, it works well for Square. They should keep it but use it for a future new game (I'm looking at maybe a FF spin-off or a Verum Rex game)

If we don't see Expedition 33 sell gang busters (I really do hope it does btw), then y'all people who want FF to go back to turn base combat, didn't put your money where your mouth is.

The only thing FF needs to do is continually reinvent itself. People clamoring for every game to copy 7R's template is a great example of why developers should ignore fan fiction.

I love FF7R for mainline and want an FF based sub series w/ turn based so bad

7R really should be their blueprint. Best thing is being able to control and fully utilize all party members in battle as needed, it also has a classic and active mode. I don’t really know why you need anything else. For modern full on HD graphics like in 7R or 16 a straight up hard turn based feels off and wouldn’t work imho. but if it’s more like FF9 graphics it could work. Not sure it would bring enough ppl on mainline game but other games could be cool!

@fancycactus234

I think there should be a sub-series dedicated to it, for sure.

Personally I think ff7 remake has the best combat in the series. And this is coming from someone who started with ff1 on nes.

@blue_wolf2077

Personally, I want any new FF game to still look beautiful with full cutscenes and VA. So including those things in a more classic turn based style would be awesome, but I still want the hybrid Rebirth style more. But maybe FF9 remake will be a good template for a more classic modern FF

@Ca7iburn

Something to note. Turn based does not have to mean 2D sprites or stationary characters waiting. FF12 and FF7 remake/rebirth has ATB in the overworld with you controlling one character at a time for movement and being able to switch between characters. Let me run around as any of the characters in the party and let me control my team while having a decent enough AI as an option like in FF7R (FF12 gambit system is a bit much for most.)

I’d like to see this poll with action and hybrid as separate categories. I believe hybrid would be way higher. 7r’s combat is the perfect way forward and appeals to the broadest set of FF fans. Clair obscurer could also change the conversion tho.

@mangasystem7011

It should overall come back to its root. A Party you have, different Towns you can explore. All those things what made the old FFs good.

@noggindude5012

I’d love to see a mainline game bring in the best of the best. The simple strategy of X, Gambit from XII, materia type system from VII, combat from VIIR and XVI with the crazy dmc combo system mixed with a turn based style pause screen

@fffan11

I'm okay with either turn based or action hybrid (FF7R), I just don't want another full on action game like 15 and 16.

@kyledouglas_X

I'd love a fully dedicated, faithful 2.5D HD remake of all the og FF games, like what they're doing with the Dragon Quest series 👌
