I just noticed the 2 documents shown in the vid. The CoS was trying to get Portage to recognize an official 'L. Ron Hubbard Day' But the city of Portage revised it and removed LRH Day from the document lol.

Thanks for sharing this. The Nithyanada cult also did similar in 2023 (Newark etc) even hoodwinking United Nations committees (CEDAW & CESCR). This is why it is important to keep Wikipedia updated as that is likely the only source a lowly bureaucrat is going to check with. Much respect to the Portage residents for stepping up and calling this BS Pseudoscience out.

I live in the Portage area, and although Battle Creek is close by, about 20-25 minutes, or so (there is a Scientology “church” there), this was shocking to see on the local news. Scientology does not have much of a presence here.

I feel bad for local officials who have to make these calls. Issuing all kinds of proclamations about this or that local group, congratulating local residents on their 100th birthday, etc. Then one day it is like, oh no, here come the Satanists, or the Scientologists, or some such group asking for a routine proclamation of their own. I can understand wanting to take the path of least resistance, but I think these officials need to have the strength and decency to say "no, sorry, scientology doesn't get one."

This is an odd place for this news to occur. Portage, Michigan?
Another P.R. move by Scientology. Always doing minimal effort To appear like they're accomplishing great things 🙄
