THE SMELL OF AGE 🕰️

Have you ever noticed how old houses smell? 🏚️
Here in America, there’s a lot of old housing, and even when you check into a hotel with brand new walls new curtains and new doors — you still notice it right away.
That sweetish scent of old wood… 🌲
A little dampness… 💧
A lot of dust… 🪶

You can’t get rid of it with anything, because it’s the smell of AGE ⏳
Children often notice that elderly people smell different 👵👴
It’s not bad—it’s just DIFFERENT 🌿

But I’m sure you’ve seen it with your own parents, friends, or acquaintances — not everyone has this smell.
Why do some people have it and others don’t? 🤔
Because years lived do not equal biological age 🧬
You might be 40, but your biological age is closer to 60 📉
Or the opposite—like in my case. According to my latest tests, my biological age is 27–29, though next year I’ll be 40 🎈

Why does the smell of aging appear? 🧐
It’s your hormone levels, the condition of your skin, hair, and nails 💅
It’s just like with a house —there’s no point painting the walls if you don’t strengthen the foundation 🏗️

I am very sensitive to smell, and it doesn't help to live in hot sunny California. All the reasons you posted of course are true...but I attribute my rapid aging to poor circulation...my lymph and low thyroid with high glucose too. All these can be corrected to a certain extent...and I am trying.. I want to look well and have no scent...😂

I love the smell of old basements and garages, don't know how to explain it and petrichor. Those smells. And there was another smell in the city I grew up in when spring would start this smell in the air, it was so nice.

Typical elders odor source is the sweat glands behind their ears. They forget to wash behind their ears. They forget to use shampoo on their fingertips to wash the scalp 2x well rinsing because hair holds odors.

@Booker3

The older people at the gym smell like everyone else-sweaty. But I assume cleaning could be a big part of it. Aging can be beautiful if we care for ourselves, remove the dust and dust mites, clean the walls and carpets. Rejuvenate and eat better 😊
