We are assured by Philo, that Deucalion was Noah. The Grecians call the person Deucalion, but the Chaldeans style him Noë (ΝΩΕ); in whose time there happened the great eruption of waters (Έλληνες μεν Δευκαλιωνα, Χαλδαιοι δε ΝΩΕ επονομαζουσιν, εφ’ ού τον μεγαν κατακλυσμον συνεβη γενεσθαι. Vol. 2. p. 412.) The Chaldeans likewise mentioned him by the name of Xisouthros. (Cedren. P. 11.)
