Ray Davies referred to Preservation Act as a work misunderstood by critics and audiences, which led him to ask them to give it a chance, as he sought musical sophistication over commercial appeal. This theatrical run was considered by Davies himself to be a mistake, as he felt it was detrimental to the band, although he considered Preservation Act 2 to be a gem of a work and the run as a whole to be the most ambitious project of his career. Details about Ray Davies' statements: Misunderstood work: Davies expressed that Preservation Act was a misunderstood work, seeking that the public and critics would give it a chance. Ambition and sophistication: Davies viewed the project as the most ambitious of his career, prioritizing musical cohesion and sophistication over the commercial songs the band was accustomed to. Misconception: Despite his ambition, Davies himself admitted that the narrative nature of these theatrical albums was detrimental to the band, although he considered the period unique and singular. Appreciation of the Work: Although not well received by critics or the general public, the Preservation period is hailed as a period of great creativity and diversity, with brilliant and sophisticated melodic pieces.

Why not put the playlist on Youtube? I boycotted Spotify a long time ago. The CEO invests in the military industrial complex and props up Rogan. F— those guys

@kingmarigold

Maybe someone more musically inclined can help me - when I heard Brainwashed for the first time, that first little bit after the guitar strumming has definitively “sinister” sort of sound. Is that like a thing or am I insane?
