So, I just finished seeing Sonic the Hedgehog 3 today and inhale, exhale boi! Let me tell you that I am still shaking with excitement after seeing this film! Where do I even start?

Okay, first, the CGI was on point! It looked so detailed, so smooth, so polished! I dare even say the effects were better than the last two movies!

Second, the humor. I had to hold in my laughter because there were points where this movie was drop dead funny! The comedic writing is an A+!

Third, the characters and acting! Of course, Ben Schwartz did a fantastic job as Sonic, Idris Elba nails Knuckles like a champ, and Colleen O'Shaughnessy was adorable as ever as Tails. James Marzden and Tika Sumpter were great as Tom and Maddie, even if they didn't have much screen time (the hologram but with Randal and Rachel was hilarious, btw), Jim Carrey killed it as Dr. Eggman and Prof. Gerald Robotnik, Alyla Browne did an excellent job portraying Maria Robotnik, and of course the star of the show...Keanu Reeves was absolutely good tier as Shadow the Hedgehog! All the actors and voice actors did an amazing job!

Fourth, the story. This movie borrowed heavily from Sonic Adventure 2, even down to playing Live and Learn, but they put their own unique spin on it. For one, Maria was an ordinary girl who didn't suffer from an incurable disease, Shadow actually crash landed on Earth rather than being created by Gerald to save Maria, and the Eclipse Cannon was a separate machine by itself, there was no Space Colony Ark.

But I enjoyed these changes, it gives the movie its own identity separate from the games while still being faithful to them. They really did Shadow's backstory justice, showcasing all the happiness, sadness and anger that came from being with and then losing Maria.

In fact, this movie gets pretty dark in some places. From Maria's demise to Tom nearly getting killed to Gerald's ultimate plan to wipe out humanity...it was so suspenseful, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. But even so, the story had a great deal of action, adventure, comedy and heart, with a great moral about not letting oneself be overcome by anger and hatred, and to always make the right choices.

Lastly, that post credits scene! I had to contain myself from screaming because first Metal Sonic showed up and then we got AMY FREAKING ROSE! If this is an indicator that we're getting a fourth movie, I am all in! We're getting Amy Rose? Go the whole nine yards! Give us, Rouge, Silver, Omega, freaking Mephiles! Just create a Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe, Paramount!

In conclusion, I enjoyed myself. Two years was definitely worth the wait to see this movie. 10/10, what a great time to be a Sonic fan! God bless Paramount, Sega and our beloved blue blur hero! Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

I’m so glad you enjoyed the film. I don’t think I’ll ever have a better movie experience like this. But who knows? Maybe the next movie will prove me wrong. Now, take this with a grain of salt, but I do believe this might be Jim Carrey’s last role. It’s sad too because Eggman presumably dies, which makes the whole retiring thing even more sad. Die as a funny guy, I suppose. Made me tear up. I could feel Stone’s pain. Speaking of tearing up, I did that a lot while watching the film. Especially seeing Maria die. I’ve made jokes about being hyped to see Maria getting shot, since it was kind of a meme beforehand, but God, seeing her deceased, Gerald tearing up and Shadow. Couldn’t freakin’ take it. On a more positive note, I do like that they made the G.U.N soldiers look more like WWII soldiers, since, y’know, the time period was during that time? Live & Learn is always welcome and I was like ā€œHell yeahā€ when I heard it. After credits scene got me like ā€œYOU ARE NOT DOING THIS TO ME, NO!ā€, but in a good way. The next movie is DEF gonna be based on Sonic CD. I hope. A time travel concept for the movies would be AWESOME! My favorite part was when Gerald commented on women being in the military, holy frick šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. I have SO much more to say, but it would take too long. Maybe in a separate post or something I’ll give my full honest revi
