I think it's mostly because the people who are currently holding power are the ones who probably never experienced human warmth or empathy. Or they are just straight out psychopaths. They are so shielded from the problems of the working class that they can't even comprehend the jou that mundane stuff provides. For them it's about achieving something that would provide them happiness and joy. No matter how much they have, they refuse to introspect and see where they lack in. We all have the existential void and how we deal with it decides how we treat ourselves and the world around us. Or these people are just straight up psychopaths devoid of any empathy or emotions. But I think people are inherently kind. Most of us have the same needs and experience the world in a similar manner. I hope people could experience the world for what it is before it ceases to exist.

I used to think that way but over the years any empathy or compassion eroded into pure void. People simply aren't worth the effort and failed me. Now all I care about is money, power, fame and I will make sure this pain will never happen to me again.

Yo wasap, word, again!! Through my years of activism i quickly came to realise the root of our problems!! What was immediate to me was the the lack of love, communication and respect for one and other!! From the very people i expected the most from, fellow activists and so called, self proclaimed Anarchists, non fascist and 'progressives' (what ever that means). It seemed that everyone had their own private agenda, either out to manipulate and take advantage of each other,or were contradicting and hypocritical, which was most upsetting and what eventually (after many years of hard toiling) lead me to leaving all the groups i was participating in!! Imagine how much worse it is between everyday people in the streets.. Saying all this, i still strongly consider that humanity easily has the capability to come together and build on love, empathy, solidarity and total cooperation for the the good of the whole !! As always, it is the system that drives people apart,to selfishness and arrogance!! This is what we must all focus our absolute attentions on, radically up rooting the system, and replacing it with something entirely new!! Thanks again, Nuff respect!! π€βπΌπ€

Life is terrible. Reality is horrible. It should be the human goal to make it more bearable, to make sure everyone makes it out okay. But no, we are... quite adept at doing the exact opposite and making it even harder. And yet, despite all of this, I still believe humankind to be capable of doing better. And as long, as that remains true, one cannot give up.

This is a timely message for me on the day I was made redundant. I've been telling my boss for months that his actions were going to get me fired and now it has happened.

"And that those with the most power are often the ones who fall further short of this love than anyone else." They always are. Power hierarchies are corrosive to our conscience; one can't be a good person and occupy a position with that kind of power, because these systems have their own logic, and that logic is Social Darwinism.

Thank You for all you do here Lucky Black Cat. Your work helps me and, I believe, many, to try to do better on this foundational issue.

Unfortunately our society is built to keep those with higher levels of empathy out of power. It does have downsides, including the fact it makes us easier to manipulate. We also tend to be more sensitive in general and the horrific ways we treat anyone in the public eye will quickly drive us out. I'd love to run for office and work to make things better, but I know it would be too much to take and I'd end up blubbering on the evening news.

One of the things that hurts most about this world is knowing we should all love each other -- care for each other's wellbeing, feel and act towards each other with compassion and sympathetic joy, value each other's existence -- and yet see how horribly far we fall short of that. And that those with the most power are often the ones who fall further short of this love than anyone else. They have the most power to shape the world, and they shape it in their own empathy-deficient image. The most heartless among us are the ones who most control us.
This must be changed.
