We are in the heart of the longest night of the year - a meaningful turning point in the natural cycle. This is a time that many traditions honour not by pushing forward, but by turning inward.
Lao Tzu writes in the Tao Te Ching (Chapter 16):
Empty yourself of everything. Let the mind become still. The ten thousand things rise and fall while the Self watches their return. They grow and flourish and then return to the source. Returning to the source is stillness, which is the way of nature.
This wisdom feels especially alive right now. If your energy feels lower, quieter or more inward, there is nothing to fix. This is the season doing exactly what it’s meant to do - supporting our inner reserves.
This time of the year rest is not avoidance - it’s wisdom.
