Surgical Boxing

It’s been a while since I’ve done a full film study, but I’m diving back in with a sleeper matchup on the Jake Paul vs. Tank Davis undercard — Gary Antuanne Russell vs. Andy Hiraoka.

This one’s fascinating… an explosive pressure boxer puncher squaring off against a rangy, sniping counterpuncher.

What makes it even more intriguing is that southpaw vs. southpaw matches are among the rarest in boxing — most lefties face only 1 or 2 southpaws in their entire careers. Yet, both Russell and Hiraoka have fought three southpaws in their last four bouts.

I love matchups like this because they often hinge on one key question — who can control distance more effectively?

For this breakdown, I’m doing something a little different — a deep, technical analysis of both fighters’ tendencies, adjustments, and how their styles might collide on fight night.

That Andy match up with Russell will be nice. He was iced by TR a few years ago. Not sure why but real boxing fans are excited
