She was in this place of rock bottom and went where she went because this is what she knew to do. She didn't know otherwise because too few show that we are made in the Image of God and that's intrinsically beautiful and the object of this exercise is to walk in that beauty and the only place to get that is from the One who gave it in the first place. There is a reason why Jesus said to "seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things will be added unto you!" There is a reason why Jesus said to take His yoke upon us! There is a reason Jesus said to "Follow Me!" Jesus never invited us to a destination, but a journey WITH a destination! The primary question of the Gospel of the Kingdom isn't "Where will you go when you die?" but "Where and with whom are you going while you yet live?" If she had a view of the Citizens of the Kingdom exercising the Purposes of that Kingdom and the Beauty of the LORD in their wake, would that not have been of sufficient interest to provoke pursuit of the Truth(just in case you don't get it, that Truth is Jesus)? Now THAT is Purpose!!! Arise, Church, let's be about it!!!
